The latest evolution in the filtration industry is the use of nanotechnology in this field. With this technique, the surface of large cellulosic or synthetic fibers (usually 10 to 30 micrometers in diameter) is covered with a layer of ultra-fine nanofibers (typically 50 to 400 nanometers in diameter). In this method, before the pleating process, the filter paper is covered with a layer of polymeric nanofibers with diameter of 50 to 300 nanometer by using an electric field. Nanofibers form because of the existence of a large potential difference.

This product is made of a nanocomposite consists of copper alloy reinforced with aluminum oxide nanoparticles with the average size of 10 nm, which are uniformly distributed in the copper matrix. Aluminum oxide is produced through a process in which oxygen reacts with aluminum in the copper lattice in the solid state. This method, in comparison with other techniques, has the best particle size and distribution. Aluminum oxide is very hard, thermally stable and insoluble in copper. These particles not only increase the copper alloy strength but also have no significant effect on reducing the thermal and electrical conductivity of copper.
