Alkyd resin is the result of the esterification reaction of a polyol and a polyacid and a monovalent fatty acid. In fact, alkyd resin is a polyester with a monovalent fatty acid in their structure. Alkyd resins dividing into three types of long oil, medium oil and short oil depending on the oil length and are used in various industries including construction paints, decorative paints, corrosion-resistant primers, varnishes and inks, furnace paints, automotive paints, etc.
Amino resins are etherified by Isobutyl alcohol and n-Butanol. They are used in manufacture of stoving paints along with non-air drying alkyd resins and some of epoxy resins, Nitro-cellulose resins, thermoset acrylics, saturated polyesters and acid drying coatings. In combination with air drying short oil alkyd resins, amino resins can also be used in wood industry.

Solid epoxy resins are commonly manufactured in flake type, and generally used in production of powder coatings. They exhibit good chemical and mechanical resistance.

Vinyl ester resin is a thermoset resin and is a product of reaction between Epoxy resin and Ethylene unsaturated carboxylic acids. It shows good mechanical properties of Epoxy resin and good chemical properties of Unsaturated poly ester resin. Epoxy chain in vinyl ester resin improves tensile and flexural strength compared with polyester resin. it also has an excellent resistance to corrosion and hydrolysis. Vinyl ester resin is applied in manufacture of FRP pipes, GRP, storage tanks, floaters. it is also applied in Pultrusion, RTM and hand lay-up industries.
